| 説明 | Those who have folded unit origami for some time soon realize that projects which use face modules tend to require fewer units than their edge module equivalents. These variants also offer one other unusual opportunity: the ability to build a thing exactly halfway. So if you have ever wondered what a cuboctahedral lattice looks like when it is sliced in half diagonally, I am happy to say that your long wait has come to an end!At this point, I had used up half of the predicted number of units and everything was symmetric, so I decided to take a picture. I quickly noticed the similarities between this "view" and the regular hexagonal cross-section that is embedded within every cube.It is interesting that the cuboctahedra at the point of the cut become perfect triangular cupolas--I guess it seems obvious, but I was not necessarily expecting this. |
