| 説明 | In a private gallery space at the Saatchi, visitors will come upon ‘Robbobot revealed,’ - the first monumental sculpture ever executed by Team Robbo. Here, an avatar expressing the power of King Robbo, familiar from a million cheap collectible figurines, is reborn as a massive mythological figure. The extraordinary detail, along with the figure’s expressionistic posture and formidable facial expressions are reminiscent of Italian Baroque masterworks – in particular, 'The Medusa' by Gian Lorenzo Bernini – as well as the bravura of more recent figures by Calder, such as 'Man Cub'. Team Robbo's avatar represents a departure from their usual work, in an ironic and subversive reinterpretation of established styles and preferred forms. This 'Robbobot' avatar is intent upon helping the viewer explore realms between reality and virtual reality - providing a possible line of development for the contemporary graffiti genre. With thanks to Robbobot Industries for allowing our photographer - Pete, to take photographs in the gallery.Dave, Prank Sky Media, Hackney, London |
