| 説明 | See where this picture was taken. The first Fire Station built by the Metropolitan Fire Brigade. Architect Charles Hellimrich it was initially run by volunteer firefighters, becoming permanently in 1901A two storey brick and stucco Victorian Italianate building with decorative parapet. The facade has label moulding to the windows, string coursing at floor and roof levels and elaborate moulding at the quoins. This fire station is a rare example of this type of building. Built in the late nineteenth century Italianate manner, it harmonises well with the nearby town hall, courthouse and post offices and an adjacent Victorian house. |
