説明Lego shot with the brand new A77 :DBackground shot with the neato little a200 at fountains abbey, part of the national trust :)Basing pictures on dave hills whilst they have to be on the subject of still life - ridonkolous task lol, this is the only way I could think of getting around it (thanks to mum for the idea lol)What I wrote in my image analysis for my A-levels:For my final piece, I really wanted to try and replicate Dave Hills work, whilst keeping within the confines of still life.Dave hills photos mainly consist of a person as the main subject, but as people aren’t classed as still life, I chose to create a sense of humility in my image and use Lego people. The photograph consists of 14 separately taken images, 12 of which are of the lego model, one is the background, and one is the sky, by doing this, it allowed me to light each area of the image separately, much like the work of HillsWhen shooting the lego, I took the pictures manually on my camera, setting the aperture to f/7.1 to maintain a deep depth of field and create optimum sharpness, and allow for a slow exposure.I placed the camera on a tripod and set the exposure time to 0.6”, this gave me enough time to shine a torch over whichever area of the image I wanted lit. I set the ISO to 500 to give me the shutter speed I wanted whilst keeping my images clean and noise free. The main challenge to the image was matching up the perspective that the background image was taken at with the perspective that the Lego was to be taken at, after a few attempts, I found a composition I was happy with.Having shot the images, I then opened them up in Adobe Lightroom, and made sure the backgrounds in all the images were pure white, which made selection in photoshop much easier. In photoshop, I first combined all the images of the lego into one, creating a perfectly lit image, I did this by opening up one image, placing another on top of that one in a separate layer, and using the mask tool, painted through whichever area I wanted, I then placed another photo on top of that, and masked through the areas I wanted and so on...I then pasted the resulting image on top of the background image, and used the perspective tool to make it fit as well as possible. Then, I created a really feint shadow of the building using a variety of tools such as the distort and warp tool.I then dodged and burned separate areas of the images to try and recreate Dave Hills photos as best as possible. As the normal sky was bright white, I didnt feel it fit the whole vibe of the image, so I pasted in a starry night sky.For some final touches, I used curves and levels to create the optimum brightness for the picture.I then colour graded the image using a few gradient masks, giving it a purple/blue/green cast.Jobs a good un :)
