| 説明 | I stayed at the Hotel Siam Intercontinental on my trip in 1967. Hotel Siam was one of Bangkok's first top-class hotels. It was in a park on land owned by the royal estate. This was the main building, with the reception, restaurant, and other public areas. The rooms were in two separate, one-story buildings. The red roof at the left is one of them. As I remember, mine was the other building, to the right.One evening I walked to the Hotel Erawan, about 600 meters away, for dinner. The Erawan was somewhat older, and was probably the best hotel in Bangkok before Hotel Siam was opened. It was my best dinner in Bangkok. Construction began in 1964. The hotel was demolished in 2002, at the end of its lease. A luxurious shopping center, Siam Paragon, was built in its place. |
