| 説明 | from Sydney's Water Supply and Sewerage (1918) by T. J. Roseby____________The life-sized allegorical group on the parapet over the main entrance was designed and executed by Mr. W. P. McIntosh, sculptor, of Annandale. In the centre is the figure of Aquaria, symbolical of the source of water supply. On the right is another female figure representing Hygeia. In the one hand she holds a cog-wheel and in the other a ewer, representing the mechanical means of water distribution. On the left is a female figure wearing a mural crown, and holding in her hands the scales of justice. This represents the City of Sydney. The sculptor first modelled the group in plaster, and from these models moulds were made and the various parts executed in hammered copper. The three huge figures were then welded together by the oxy-acetylene process. This fine group adds materially to the attractiveness of the façade. - p.16.____________ |
