| 説明 | Talk abut form following function... this is John Barnard's masterpiece, IMHO. Nothing present unless needed, nothing curved if flat will do, no 2D curves where 1D will do, or 3D where 2D will do. The lines are severely flowing and E L E G A N T. The bare carbon fiber and epoxy on the inside of the wing end plates, the horizontal diffuser behind the side pods, the suspension pieces and the chassis tub ahead of the side pods is stunning graphically and shows how tightly the design, livery, sponsor branding and engineering were bound together. Ditto for the windscreen sized to match the front day-glo band. By contrast, the Ferraris were rococo, Williams looked like loose engineers without adult supervision had scheemed it up and only the Lotus 97 and 99 came close to the austere beauty of the MP4/2. I don't believe there's anything accidental about it either. The MP4/1 was attractive and even brought forward a bit of Mk 26 and Mk 23 McLaren signatures. The MP4/3 was slippery-er and took advantage of reduces fuel cell size. This is perfect. The roll bar is spot on half way between the front and rear of the body, and that smooth curve from roll bar down to the transmission is a Jungian architype. Bellisimo!.DSC_0238 |
