| 説明 | More Georgian buildings in Leamington Spa.I continued down Willes Road, then briefly went up Upper Holly Walk. Red post box down there was another E II R (didn't take that one though). Dated 1836to centre. No.81 by William Thomas for himself. Pinkish-brownbrick with painted stucco facade and Welsh slate roof.STYLE: Neo-Tudor.EXTERIOR: main range of 3 storeys, 3 bays, with 2-storey,single-bay range to left, basements. Quoins to angles. Mainrange: central projection between canted bays which rise frombasements through ground and first floors, outersingle-storey, projecting porches.First floor, from left range: sill band on lion corbels;mullion and transom window in moulded reveals with quoinedsurround; narrow 1/1 sash; canted bay has central 1/1 sashwith margin-lights between 1/1 sashes in plain reveals andwith quoined surround; mullion and transom window in tooledreveals with quoined surround; bay has three 1/1 sashes inplain reveals and with quoined surround. Bays surmounted bypierced diaper pattern balustrade.Second floor: 3 mullion and transom windows in tooled revealsand with quoined surrounds.Ground floor, main range: end entrances (alike): 2 roll-edgedsteps to part-glazed, 3-panel door with 4-centred overlightwith margin-lights; within porch with moulded, 4-centredopening; male caryatid pilasters support frieze with griffinsto left and masks to right, surmounted by finials.Windows, from left: 1/1 sash with margin-lights in tooledreveals with sill and quoins; bay has central 1/1 sash withmargin-lights between 1/1 sashes, in plain reveals and withquoined surround; pair of 1/1 sashes in tooled reveals andwith quoined surround; bay has three 1/1 sashes.Basement: bays have 1/1 sashes, otherwise casements.Left range surmounted by cornice, frieze and cornice withlozenge and pyramidal finials.Main range: outer bays have curvilinear gable ends with tooledsurrounds surmounted by urns, gryphon and lion. Centre baysurmounted by pierced parapet and date, with pyramidalfinials.
