Also on Rosefield Street.It is Grade II listed.Newbold Tavern 18, Royal Leamington Spa - British Listed BuildingsPublic house. c1826-1830. Pinkish-brown brick with paintedstucco facade and slate roof. Parapeted gable end to front andrear. Double-depth rectangular plan with central entrance andtwo front rooms.3 storeys with attic, 3 first-floor windows. First and secondfloors have 6/6 sashes; 3/6 sash to attic in gable. Groundfloor: tripartite sashes. Central entrance with panelled doorwithin porch with Tuscan columns, entablature canopy. Left(south-east) return has sashes on left and doorway on right.Rear: 6/6 sashes to second floor and 3/6 sash to attic. Endstacks, truncated to left.INTERIOR: not inspected.HISTORICAL NOTE: Newbold Street was laid out in 1826.(Cave LF: Royal Leamington Spa Its History and Development:Chichester: 1988-: 39).I took this later as I headed back this way. |
