| 説明 | More than one month's rain fell on Dublin in 24 hours, causing rivers to break their banks.Yesterday I got the LUAS tram to the NCI in the IFSC and while waiting for the tram I was surprised by the amount of rain that fell during the five minutes that I had to wait for the tram to arrive. My first lecture was from 18:30 to 20:30 and on my way to the second lecture someone mentioned that their wife had phoned advising them to return home because there was major flooding throughout the city. He decided to ignore his wife's advice but I decided to go outside to see just how bad the weather was and much to my surprise I discovered that all LUAS services had been suspended. I decided that my best option was walk home. On my way home I encountered conditions that I had never encountered before. Some roads looked like rivers and there was little or no public transpire available..The next day I learned that two people had died and thousands were still stranded after torrential rain closed roads and rail lines. Many shops and homes were under water and Dublin had been put on an emergency footing. According to local media reports more than one month's rain fell on Dublin in 24 hours, causing rivers to break their banks and flooding the country's largest shopping centre (located in Dundrum) and many other parts of the city. |
