| 説明 | I had heard that the SUW had too much forest walking to be a great walk. My own view is that this would be a rather unfair comment, sure there are stretches of forest but the predominent landscape is open, big, wide, upland and empty. Not much to complain about here is there? In 1808 Sir Walter Scott published his famous work "Marmion" in which he makes this reference to St. Mary's Loch:"Oft in my mind such thoughts awakeBy lone St. Mary's silent lakeThou know'st it well, nor fen nor sedgepollute the pure lake's crystal edge"Marmion (part) Sir Walter Scott 1772 -1832.Lord Marmion was doomed to die on Flodden Field, but St.Mary's is still crystal clear. |
