| 説明 | Seeing my interest in the prints of James Hogg and Sir Walter Scott in the dinning room of the Inn the landlord kindly allowed me to photograph this print of The Ettrick Shepherd hanging on the wall in the private rooms. It is known that James Hogg and Sir Walter Scott met from time to time in Tibbie Shiels. I like to think of them sitting by the fire pouring over notes of old ballads and songs for The Minstrelsy of The Scottish Border. I have been checking through my Hogg poetry to see if there is a reference to Tibbie Shiels but can't find one and Sir Walter Scott's diaries are simply too much to tackle...James Hogg 1770 - 1835 |
