| 説明 | Joseph F. Glidden House in DeKalb (1861). Glidden was the one who actually invented barbed wire, although others such as Isaac Elwood were more successful at marketing it. However, as holder of the patent, Glidden got his cut from the others and died one of the richest men in the country. Glidden was originally a teacher, and decided to open the Northern Illinois State Normal School in the 1890s, which eventually became Northern Illinois University. |
