| 説明 | The interior of Sant'Apollinare in Classe, a highlight of Ravenna, Italy. The famous mosaic is at the far end. The basilica was named aftr St. Apollinaris, the first Bishop of Ravenna and an early Christian martyr. Not much is known about him - even when he lived. Different sources place his death as early as the reign of Emperor Nero (54-68 AD), or as late as Septimus Severus (193-211). Inferior slide film deteriorated over the years, and I had to convert the photo to black and white. |
