| 説明 | A little sneak preview of the nearly-completely-refurbished gallery, due for re-opening in November 2011…The original building was by Robert Rowand Anderson and the refurbishment was carried out by Page\Park following a conservation plan written by Simpson & Brown.It's quite a change - not least a significance increase in gallery space - but I was pleased to notice that the building still feels familiar.The vast new lift is a deliberately bold intervention - eschewing the normal attempts of 'hiding away' such things in awkward corners. The movement adds a bit of life, and the fully-glazed shaft provides views of other parts of the gallery, which (I think) I like: the test, of course, will come when the building is full of art and visitors (sometimes they have a habit of messing up architects' neat & tidy buildings...) |
