| 説明 | A billion-dollar security and logistics bubble surrounded the US president during his visit to Dublin (I assume that the Irish Government did not foot this bill)I live in Dublin 1 close to the exact centre of Dublin and one problem that I encounter is that I am sometimes trapped in my home when a major security is undertaken and usually I am prevented from crossing the river Liffey. On the day that Obama visited Dublin I went to have my lunch in Temple Bar but when I arrived at the footbridge I was informed that I would not be permitted to return to the North side of the river until late in the Evening.Dublin city centre was on lockdown when US President Barack Obama arrived for his first visit to Dublin. Rolling street closures were implemented for up to seven hours and the centre was sealed off to protect Mr Obama. It is hoped some streets will be opened up again as others are shut down.Commuters and travellers had to cope with serious disruption, particularly in the afternoon and the evening. Worst affected areas were around College Green and Dame Street as well as the north and south quays. There were many gardai and US Secret Service agents to be seen on the streets.Airport-style scanning machines, known as magnometers, were used search people in the area and they were manned by uniformed gardai with members of the Special Branch and US agents on guard close by.Eight thousand gardai were on duty during his stay, backed up by 1,800 members of the Defence Forces and around 200 US agents and officials. |
