| 説明 | My first attempt at the African Flower motif that I've greatly admired. Sadly, not wholly successful.The first one I made is at the top. I was disappointed with how "holey" it turned out. I think my choice of a too-large hook plus my inexperience with Granny-type squares effected the final result. And . . . I didn't understand the first instructions I tried to follow for the outside edge so it, for sure, doesn't match the other two!The second one I made is the one on the left with the peach-colored border. I went down a hook size and I like the way it looks much better. However, I mis-counted at some point so one of the sides isn't the same! On my third try I ended up with too few double crochets in one of the pink flower petals. You can see that the bottom one is smaller. When I realized it I had finished the peach border and was already on the teal-green border. I'd cut the pink yarn when I changed colors so ripping it back to add another double crochet stitch to the petal wasn't an option. My learning curve is sometimes steep -- and accurate counting isn't one of my skill sets. So much to learn, so little time . . . I'm hyper-critical of my own work and aspire to be as accomplished as those who've made the beautiful examples of the African Flower motif that I've seen on Ravelry and here on Flickr (there's actually a group/pool here dedicated to crocheting these gorgeous flower motifs). |
