| 説明 | A model of the morphology of the rat vibrissal array. The rat vibrissal system provides an ideal model to examine how the physical embodiment of a sensory array shapes the sensing process. We quantified the morphology of the rat vibrissal array to develop a model that can be used to simulate the spatiotemporal patterns of vibrissa—object contact during tactile exploratory behavior (see Towal et al. doi:10.1371/journal.pcbi.1001120). The left half of the image illustrates the vibrissal array of a real rat, and the right half illustrates the model.
