| 説明 | Martha's Vineyard: South Beach flyover.Pictured: A low-flying, modified Bell 206 helicopter with an undercarriage-mounted array of magnetometers. The magnetometers are used to survey the area for metal debris that may indicate the presence of unexploded ordnance (UXO) left-over from World War II-era activities.The work is part of an ongoing assessment and cleanup efforts by the US Army Corps of Engineers and MassDEP. The Chopper really does fly that low, 3 feet off the deck. Battelle out of Oak Ridge, Tennessee owns the geophysical equipment mounted on the Chopper.National Helicopters out of Toronto Canada owns the helicopter.February, 2011 |
