| 説明 | The base of the "immortal" redwood tree (I prefer "unkillable"...), which has survived lightning, the logger's axe, a forest fire (redwoods are good at that, though...) and the 1964 flood. Taken in 1991: that's a Dodge Ram passenger van (of unknown model year) at the base. The axe representation is the scar from the 1908 tree-felling attempt, the fish is how far up the tree the 1964 flood came: note the growth since the 1908! (in 1908, that scar would'a been about a meter off the ground...) Taken in Humboldt Redwoods State Park on the "Avenue of the Giants" by a Pentax SP1000 with a SMC Takumar 55mm ƒ2 lens (the shortest lens I had at the time...) on an unknown film, possibly Kodak Gold 400: exposure unrecorded. Print (negative missing...) scanned into computer by an HP G4010. The top of the tree is shown in the prior shot in my photostream. |
