| 説明 | The health project aims to reduce the incidence of malaria, respiratory diseases and diarrhea. UNICEF provides the medicine, mosquito nets and pays for the health staff in the centre, the government monitors the quality of the work, the health centre takes on the extra work, the Displaced Committee provides a list of the displaced and two displaced nurses work in the centre to help deal with the extra volume. To ensure that we do not create tension or jealously with the host community they also have free treatment. The project has been running for 10 days. Before the centre was treating about 10 people a day of which 5 were displaced. This has now gone to about 50 displaced people a day of which about 30% are children. Overall we were pleased with the results however the health centre was in spite of our agreement asking the locals who had not been displaced to pay. This could lead to friction. Also as we are providing access to all the demand is huge and the stock of medicine will run out in 10 days. We are working to replace this but may need to limit access to children and pregnant and lactating mothers. The main complaint from the displaced was of the long waiting times. |
