説明 | I spent last Sunday in Leipzig, walking around town with some friends and taking pictures of everything I saw. The first two rolls I developed were Ferrania Orto film, a somewhat unusual type of black and white film characterized by its distinct orthochromatic properties, high silver content, and exceptional resolving power. This film delivers striking contrast, sharpness, and sensitivity. If you're not familiar with the term 'orthochromatic,' allow me to explain it briefly. Ortho-chromatic film is composed of silver halide crystals that are primarily sensitive to blue light. It was developed in 1873, and early photographs and motion pictures utilized orthochromatic film, which explains why skies in these old images are typically depicted as white; they tended to overexpose due to their blue color. The orthochromatic film was unable to detect red light, meaning that anything with a red hue would appear black. |
