Seeing Lurry in respiratory distress, a JPD sergeant hit him, swore at him, and held his nose shut for a minute and thirty eight seconds. This happened in January, but the department covered it up for months, saying JPD officers had nothing to do with Lurry’s death. In the past few days dashcam video has come to light because another officer came forward. Today Lurry's family and local organizers held a press conference in front of the Joliet Police Department demanding the officers be held accountable. |
