| 説明 | What a fab afternoon at EWT Abberton Reservoir! Distant views of a pair of Red-footed Falcons (ticked!) The butterflies are starting to emerge and we saw a rather tatty (over wintered?) Brown Argus and fresh new Common Blue, Small Heath and Speckled Wood. The stars of the show from the invertebrates were the mating Azure Damsel flies - I stopped counting after 20 pairs... Late in the day the elusive Reed Warblers made a brief appearance - so well camouflaged they are hard to see. Round the other side the Spoonbills are nesting again and we got distant views of one of the adults. The Cormorants have already raised a clutch this Spring in their messy stick nests. Cuteness was provided by Moorhen and Little Grebe chicks whilst the pond outside the visitor centre was teeming with Great Crested Newts. |
