| 説明 | Built in 1911, this Prairie-style house was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for Oscar Balch, an interior decorator and partner in the firm Pebbles and Balch. The house is overall a very simple structure, with most of the trim and window mullions placed in simple, geometric patterns, making the house one of the most modernist houses of this period of Wright’s career. The house is clad in stucco with wooden trim, casement windows, a low-pitch roof with wide overhanging eaves, cantilevered second-story balconies flanking the front wing, an uncovered front terrace, a one-story rear wing, and a private rooftop terrace with a pergola. The building is a contributing structure in the Frank Lloyd Wright–Prairie School of Architecture Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, and increased in size to encompass the same area as the present local historic district in 2009. |
