説明Built in 1897, this early Prairie-style house was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for George W. Furbeck, an electrical contractor, and his wife, Sue Allin Harrington Furbeck. The house was modified in 1920 with the enclosure of the original front porch and expansion of the third-floor dormer, adding additional interior space to the house. The house has the boxy, rectilinear form of the later Prairie-style houses, along with the hipped roof with wide overhanging eaves, casement windows, and corner brick piers, but has elements of the Shingle style and Queen Anne style, which were predominant in Wright’s earlier work. The house features an eccentric front facade with two towers flanking window bays at the center of the facade, an enclosed sun porch, a hipped roof, conical roofs atop the two front towers, casement windows, and decorative patterned brickwork. The building is a contributing structure in the Frank Lloyd Wright–Prairie School of Architecture Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, and increased in size to encompass the same area as the present local historic district in 2009.
