| 説明 | Built in 1925-1928, this Gothic Revival-style building was designed by Bertram Goodhue Associates to serve as the home of Christ Church, an Episcopal congregation that was founded the same year as the completion of the building, which was established to serve the growing population of wealthy residents in Bloomfield Hills, many of whom were Episcopalian. The building is clad in rough-hewn stone with a gabled roof, low shed-roofed aisles flanking a central high nave, gothic arched bays, decorative tracery, a tower on the south side of the sanctuary, exterior buttresses, a narthex that projects from the west facade, and a low two-story parish house to the southeast of the sanctuary, which is connected to the base of the tower. The building is a contributing structure in the Cranbrook Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1989. Today, the building remains in use as an Episcopal Church. |
