Following his death on Easter Monday, 2025 at the age of 88, a new pope will be chosen through a voting process by a college of Cardinals. 2025 is a jubilee year for the Catholic Church. This is a year of pardon of sins and debts, celebrated every 25 or 50 years. More than 30 million pilgrims are expected to visit the Vatican during this jubilee year, according to an article in Euronews. The celebration began on 24th December (Christmas Eve) 2024 and will continue until 6 January (Epiphany) 2026. |
