| 説明 | Built between 1925 and 1942, this complex of Arts and Crafts-style buildings was designed by Eliel Saarinen to house the Cranbrook Academy of Art, which opened in 1932. The buildings are clad in red brick with gabled and hipped roofs, casement windows, chimneys, bay windows, stone trim, and decorative sculptural reliefs. The older buildings of the academy are contributing structures in the Cranbrook Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1989. |
