| 説明 | Built in 1927, this Art Deco-style building was designed by Dennison and Hirons for the Home Savings Bank to serve as a commercial office building. The building stands 21 stories and 267 feet (82 meters) tall, and was the tallest building in Albany until the Alfred E. Smith State Office Building was completed in 1930. The building is clad in buff brick with decorative contrasting patterned brickwork, three-over-three double-hung windows, a massing that tapers with setbacks towards the roofline, stone cladding and large bays at the base of the building, decorative terra cotta reliefs featuring Art Deco motifs at the top of the building, and a light court on the building’s south flank, shared with an adjacent skyscraper. The building is a contributing structure in the Downtown Albany Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980, and increased to its present size in 2022. |
