| 説明 | In this photograph, I extended the "wells" of the "core" in order to transition to the outer honeycomb. The hexagons come from Kunihiko Kasahara's Origami Omnibus, page 224, slightly modified so as to have a crease-less appearance on one side.I actually did not realize at first that the square cupolas in the inner great rhombicuboctahedron would be coplanar with the hexagons in the outer truncated octahedra. There is a lot of redundant symmetry in this model. And if you are confused by the contrast of the solid appearance of the purple well and the white squares in the other wells, that can be explained by the fact that all of the square modules in this structure are white on one side. I wanted to save my colored paper, you see--it is a limited resource! It is difficult to find a resting position for the polyhedron at this stage; the hexagons are too weak to bear the weight of the structure without crinkling. I was only able to take this photograph after very careful positioning. |
