I visited a large vernal pool amidst a deciduous forest and was happy to see numerous turtles out basking, as well as countless tadpoles in the shallows. In one section of the pond where the sun was shining the most, a few Northern Cricket Frogs were hopping around. Deviating from my normal approach, I left this one in situ and snapped this picture as it rested on a decaying leaf in the water amongst duckweed.St. Louis County, Missouri |
