| 説明 | This is a composite picture, with several images superimposed to give an overall impression of the celebtations.At the back is the Belgrave Neighbourhood Centre, which was decked with illuminations for the occasion. At the front is a marching brass band and two stilt walkers. In between are crowds of people enjoying the festival. The images all show things that happened, but not in the same place at the same time. Partly transparent, they are layered on top of each other to give a sense of the multifaceted carnival experience.The stilt walkers tower above the crowds, striding tall in their fantastical outfits. The Bollywood brass band is a leading British Indian-style wedding band that plays at festivals and events internationally. Here, they march through the festival of lights in their special "lit up" costumes.The Belgrave Neighbourhood Centre started life as the Belgrave Hall Wesleyan Methodist Church and Mantle Memorial School. In 1977 the council took over the empty church and school buildings and turned them into a neighbourhood centre, offering a variety of classes, social activities and events. For Diwali 2024, it hosted an exhibition of Rangoli, an intricate traditional Indian floor art. While Diwali Leicester has some commercial sponsorship, the bulk of its funding comes from the city council, who also support it by making this and other facilities available.The images were all taken with a Google Pixel8 Pro, hand-held, using night sight. The composition was done in post-processing. |
