| 説明 | Built in 1914, this Beaux Arts-style building was designed by Marshall and Fox and Albert H. Swanke for the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, and received a matching addition in 1932, designed by Holabird and Root. The building is clad in terra cotta with one-over-one windows, a five-story front portico with fluted corinthian columns and corinthian pilasters, green terra cotta cladding and spandrel panels at the rear of the portico, a cornice with dentils, egg and dart motif, rosettes, and modillions, a parapet balustrade, and front steps flanked by ornate brass lampposts. The building today remains in use as the headquarters of the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, and is connected to a large podium and skyscraper that contains the rest of the company’s headquarters. |
