| 説明 | Built in 1927-1931, this Classical Revival-style building was designed by Albert R. Ross to serve as the Milwaukee County Courthouse, and was the winning design of a competition held in 1927 to replace the previous Milwaukee County Courthouse, which had become inadequate for the growing needs of the county government and courts. The building stands 11 stories tall and 174 feet (54 meters) tall, and is clad in bedford limestone with multi-story colonnades with fluted corinthian columns, fluted corinthian pilasters, replacement windows, cornices with dentils and modillions, decorative sculptural reliefs, a rusticated base, multiple interior light courts, and wide arched bays at the base of the building. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. Today, the building remains in use as the home of the Milwaukee County government and courts. |
