説明1943.53.26 581 - 618 CE Limestone with polychromy and gilding H. 68 x W. 40 x D. 27 cm (26 3/4 x 15 3/4 x 10 5/8 in.) This statue is one from a Pair of Bodhisattvas, Probably from an Amitabha Triad (西方三圣,Three Saints of the West). A bodhisattva is a divine being who has vowed to achieve enlightenment in the future but remains in the world to help all sentient beings attain the same goal. Early artists depicted bodhisattvas in the guise of royalty. They wear silken dhotis — essentially, loose skirts — and scarves, along with abundant jewelry, including earrings, armlets, bracelets, and anklets. Their long hair is typically arranged in a high topknot, with individual strands sometimes falling over the shoulders; a crown often encircles the topknot.[Personal Comments: To identified this statue as Mahasthamaprapta (大势至/Da Shizhi), there has to be a little image of a bottle at the front of the crown. This statue carries it so it has to be Mahasthamaprapta .]
