説明 | Erected in 1914, this monument was designed by Wilhelm Wandschneider and funded by the German-American Alliance to honor Carl Schurz, Emil Preetorius and Carl Daenzer, whom were editors of the German St. Louis newspaper, the Westliche Post. The sculpture, originally located north of the water tower prior to the construction of Interstate 44 in the 1960s, features a bronze statue of a naked woman holding two torches, with a pink granite pylon featuring carved sculptural reliefs and bronze seals to the north of the statue. The monument was designated a City of St. Louis Landmark in 1969. |
