| 説明 | Portland - Maine History story from the web site www.portlandschooner.com Timberwind is a 96' two-masted schooner that was built in 1931 by Victor Cole at Union Wharf in Portland. For nearly four decades, until 1969, it was named the Portland Pilot and was responsible for meeting incoming vessels outside the harbor and piloting them to their berths. It was also briefly commandeered for service by the Coast Guard during World War II. Timberwind is certified by the US Coast Guard to carry 45 passengers on deck and is on the National Register of Historic Places. |
