This mint species is often abundant in open understory and parkland environments at sites that are sunny and exposed (e.g., west facing slopes). The combination of a corolla with bilateral symmetry (because of a well developed hood-like upper petal lobe), 2 stamens per flower, and a terminal hemispheric inflorescence distinguish this native perennial mint species. |
