| 説明 | Built in 1864, this Gothic Revival-style building was designed by William W. Boyington to serve as the gatehouse and office building for Rosehill Cemetery, providing a main entrance off of Ravenswood Avenue along the eastern edge of the cemetery. The building is reminiscent of Boyington’s famous Chicago Water Tower, constructed a few years later, and is constructed of rough-hewn Joliet limestone with crenellated parapets and towers, gothic arched bays, a gothic arched gateway with metal gates, and octagonal corner towers. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975, and was designated a Chicago Landmark in 1980. |
