| 説明 | Engelmann sedge forms lawns or carpets in swales on moraine talus in the Alaska Basin area including here on the west side of Buck Mountain Pass, Teton Range, Teton County, Wyoming. The rhizomatous growth habit, terete narrow leaves (terete at base), a single ovoid spikelet terminating each flowering stem, pistillate flowers with three style branches and subtended by a large acuminate scale are distinguishing of this alpine sedge. This population with mature (or evident) staminate flowers confined to the tip of the single spikelet was sitting in a more protected part of a swale. |
