説明 | I went to this Chinese primary school in 1981-1986. Seen here is the main admin building. The school was founded in 1912, and today it is one of the best schools in the state of Sabah. On my recent visit after having left Sandakan for nearly 20 years, I was very happy to see that the helicopter is still there. The helicopter is raised on stilts. It was also a tall (and fast---it was made of very smooth stainless steel) slide during my years (climb up the stairs on one side, go through the cabin, and go down the slide on the other side). During recess, we played and ate snacks in the helicopter. Some kids would take the role of the pilot. There were still dials, levers and stuff like that. If certain ones of the levers were pulled, some engine parts on the rotor would move. Many types of games incorporating the helicopter can be played. It is for obvious reason that no one is allowed to go up nowadays. I remember, once, on going down the slide, I 'derailed' and ended up with a bloody lip. Things like that are not allowed to happen in a school today. Those kids have no idea what they are missing! |
