Once molten, the metal is skimmed to remove impurities and then poured into moulds. After cooling, the propellors is taken out and sent for polishing. During these operations, noticeable emissions contribute to pollution in the area. Workers operate without adequate masks or safety equipment or guidelines for environmental or worker safety. Metals recovered from ship breaking or repairs are commonly used in this process.
