| 説明 | Built in 1908, this Beaux Arts-style building was designed by Edgar M. Lazarus and built by Hastie and Dougan to serve as the Clatsop County Courthouse, with a complimentary jail being constructed behind the building in 1913-1914, designed by Palmberg & Mattson. The building features a buff brick exterior with corinthian pilasters, terra cotta trim, cartouches, one-over-one windows, pediments, a cornice with modillions, a rusticated base, and a paneled parapet. The jail features a concrete exterior with six-over-six windows, simple pilasters, a cornice with dentils, and a pediment over the central bay of the front facade. The Clatsop County Courthouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984, and the Old Clatsop County Jail was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, and both buildings are contributing structures in the Astoria Downtown Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. Today, the courthouse remains in use for its original purpose, while the jail houses the Oregon Film Museum, documenting the many movies that were shot in Oregon, with a special focus on the major motion pictures filmed in Astoria. |
