| 説明 | Built in 1941, this Art Deco-style building was designed by S. R. Witwer to serve as an annex to the adjacent Palace Hotel, built in 1909. The building served as part of the Palace Hotel until 1980, when it closed due to competition from newer hotels. The building features a buff brick exterior with terra cotta cladding, Eagle motifs with geometric panels at the parapet spandrels above the columns of windows on the facade, ribbed spandrel panels, one-over-one windows, decorative patterned brickwork, a large bay at the first floor of the front facade with plate glass windows, and a suspended metal canopy over the first floor bay. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, and is a contributing structure in the Downtown Missoula Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009. |
