| 説明 | Built in 1891, this Queen Anne-style building was built by the Wah Chong Tai Company to house a mercantile catering to Butte’s Chinese community, with an addition containing the Mai Wah Noodle Parlor on the building’s second floor in 1909. The building features a red brick exterior, stone trim, decorative patterned brickwork, two-over-two double-hung windows, painted ghost signage, and large first floor bays with decorative transoms and plate glass windows. The building is a contributing structure in the Butte-Anaconda Historic District, designated a National Historic Landmark in 1961, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1966. The building today houses the Mai Wah Society, a museum that interprets and preserves the history of the local Chinese-American community in Butte. |
