| 説明 | Built in 1974-1976 and designed by Ellerbe Becket, this Contemporary arena was renovated between 2015 and 2021 under the direction of NBBJ Architects and Messer Construction. The arena has a capacity of about 20,000 spectators, reduced from the original capacity of 24,000. The rest of the building houses a convention center, with large interior ballrooms, convention halls, and lobbies, which is known as the Central Bank Center. The exterior of the building is clad in metal and concrete panels, with large curtain walls, angled geometric elements, an exterior plaza with landscaping, and low wings surrounding a tall central core, which houses the arena and the large convention halls. The building anchors the north end of Downtown Lexington, and houses the University of Kentucky Wildcats Basketball program, as well as hosting regular special events, concerts, performances, and conventions. |
