| 説明 | A Brown Tree Skink in the reptilarium in the Malacca/ Melaka zoo. I found it most weird that worm on the plate, probably given to the skink as food, looks similar in colour to the Tree Skink itself! Also called the Tree-Crevice Skink or Tree Skink, the Brown Tree Skink is a shy, diurnal lizard of lowland primary and secondary forest. It is characterized by a greenish-yellow underside and a series of dark bands across the medium-brown dorsum. Brown Tree Skinks are moderately large lizards of and are generally colored dark-black to grey-brown with a pale stripe going from their head to their tail. They grow to be around 100–118 mm long and can live for up to ten years. Their primary diet consists of larger, hard-bodied insects. Their major predators (meaning animals which hunt and consume Brown Tree Skinks) are snakes, birds, and some mammals. Notes about the Malacca/ Melaka zoo appeared earlier in this album. (see previous pictures). (Malacca/ Melaka, Malaysia, Sept. 2023) |
