| 説明 | A stop for a cold drink and to catch one's breath and the remains of the fort on St. Paul's hill comes into view. The Dutch conquest of Malacca/ Melaka from the Portuguese Empire in 1641 saw the proscription of Roman Catholicism and the conversion of existing churches to Dutch Reformed use. The old St. Paul's Church at the summit of St. Paul Hill (we will get to the ruins of it in a moment- see subsequent pictures) was renamed the Bovenkerk (Upper Church) and used as the main parish church of the Dutch community in Malacca/ Melaka at the time. (Malacca/ Melaka, Malaysia, Sept. 2023). (NOTE: Apologies for the small image size- thanks to the harsh sunlight, I did not realize that the LIV E mode has got activated on my iPhone. Thanks to this mode, this picture had got recorded as a mini one second movie.
