| 説明 | The barricaded open grave of St. Francis Xavier in St. Paul's church. St. Francis Xavier was buried here for some time before his remains were moved to Goa in India, once another Portuguese enclave. You can't see much through the thick wire mesh fitted behind the barricade. Built in the year 1521, this 16th-century church sits atop Bukit Melaka (previously St Paul’s Hill) in the historic quarter of the UNESCO World Heritage listed town of Malacca/ Melaka. All that remains today are the ruins of this once grand church. The Church of St Paul was known to the Portuguese in Melaka as the Chapel of Mother of God (Madre De Deus) or Lady of the Hill (Nossa Senhora Do Oiteiro).
